Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh vows to honour decisions by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh on his current roles.
They picked him earlier for Merlimau assemblyman and executive councillor in rural development, agriculture, and food security.
Defers Authority to Leaders
“Insya-Allah, we wait. The chief minister holds say on my exco spot, so I follow his word,” Akmal said.
“The Umno president chose me for the state polls. I seek their consent first,” he added outside Melaka Court Mediation Centre today, per Bernama.
Gratitude to Mentor Rauf
Akmal later posted on Facebook. He shared intentions with Rauf at his office this afternoon.
Rauf brought him into Umno as a student leader and shared leadership wisdom.
“Thank you. I cannot repay your guidance. Proud to serve beside you,” he wrote.
Context of Quit Hints
Akmal had hinted at stepping back. “Perhaps time to make way,” he said after Zahid turned down leaving government for Pas ties under Muafakat Nasional.
Umno Youth secretary Hafiz Ariffin dismissed resignation talk.
