Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said mastering Bahasa Melayu is vital for all students, including in national schools, to raise education standards.
The national language push does not limit mother tongues or others like Arabic and English.
“In this country, students must command Malay well,” he told the Chinese community at SJKC Perting today. “Global competition demands strong English too.”
Supporting Mother Tongues
“Our system lets Chinese and Tamil SJK pupils excel in those languages,” Anwar explained. “All must master Malay, the official language.”
The Education Ministry (MOE) must supply enough Chinese and other language teachers, even in national schools. This opens second and third languages to all.
“Not just Chinese SJKs, but national schools for kids keen on Chinese, Tamil, or Arabic,” he said.
Ending Language Disputes
This approach avoids endless ethnic rows over language. The real focus is better education for children.
Graduates from SJKC Perting in Bentong should compete nationwide, in Asean, and globally.
Path to Progress
Minor differences can be discussed, Anwar noted. But stay focused—for Malaysia’s advance and kids’ success, upgrade schools and train teachers.
Provide facilities, master languages, digital skills, AI, mathematics, science, and technology. These define the future.
The government maintains school infrastructure in good shape.
Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman joined the event.
Anwar approved RM13.5 million for SJKC Perting repairs, with RM300,000 immediate for pre-work.
