Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will hold a briefing with the cabinet on Tuesday, partly to discuss the cabinet reshuffle that is expected to take place.
Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu said the prime minister is also expected to explain the resignation of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Ewon Benedick, which was announced on Saturday.
“I heard about Ewon’s resignation through the news, but there will be a cabinet meeting on Tuesday and we will listen to the prime minister’s explanation.
“We will also discuss the cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, so I don’t want to comment further,” he said after the winding-up session of the 2025 Amanah National Convention.
Yesterday, the media reported that Ewon announced his resignation from the federal cabinet on the basis of principle regarding the implementation of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement as provided for under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution.
Ewon, who was the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, said the decision was made after studying the written judgment by Kota Kinabalu High Court judge Celestina Stuel Galid on the judicial review filed by the Sabah Law Society (SLS).
Asked whether the resignation would affect Pakatan Harapan’s machinery for the 17th Sabah state election, Mohamad Sabu, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, said he was confident it would not have any impact.
