Bersatu has officially sacked political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin, widely known as Chegubard, following reports of intensifying internal conflict within the party.
The expulsion was confirmed by the disciplinary board after the member was found to have acted against the party interests.
Disciplinary board chairman Mohd Radzi Manan stated that the decision was made because Badrul Hisham had violated Clause 9.1.4 of the party constitution.
Additionally, he was found to be in breach of the Code of Ethics stipulated for all party members. This move is the latest in a series of recent expulsions as the party leadership addresses infighting among its top ranks.
Refusal to answer show-cause letter
The Port Dickson division chief had previously been served with a show-cause letter by the disciplinary board on March 10. The letter, which he reportedly received via WhatsApp, outlined several charges against him and provided a seven-day window for a formal response.
However, on Wednesday, Badrul Hisham publicly stated that he would not be replying to the letter. He argued that the questions posed by the disciplinary board did not make sense to him.
His decision to ignore the formal disciplinary process appears to have accelerated the board’s decision to terminate his membership.
Ongoing internal friction
The sacking of such a prominent activist highlights the current volatility within Bersatu’s internal structure. As the party continues to manage disagreements between various leadership factions, the disciplinary board has increasingly moved to enforce strict adherence to the party’s governing rules.
This latest development underscores the party’s firm stance on member conduct and constitutional compliance. By removing a division-level leader, the party hierarchy signals its intent to consolidate control and minimize public dissent within its organization.
