National Police Commissioner General Sar Thet has issued a firm directive to all forces to intensify efforts to completely eradicate online scam operations from the kingdom, reaffirming the government’s commitment to dismantling cyber-enabled criminal networks.
The order was delivered during a review meeting of the specialised task force on combating online scam crimes today at the Ministry of Interior.
General Sar Thet said that although authorities have conducted continuous crackdowns, the scale of these syndicates demands a more aggressive response.
He said that the latest nationwide campaign reflects a determined stance to eliminate scam syndicates, an initiative he noted has garnered praise from both domestic and international observers.
“Nevertheless, we must further strengthen the efforts to eradicate this major crime so that it is completely eliminated from Cambodia, and continue to implement the government’s decisions,” the Commissioner General said.
The police chief also commended officers for the success of recent operations. According to National Police figures, a large-scale raid involving 700 officers resulted in the arrest of 2,044 foreign suspects.
The detainees included 1,792 Chinese nationals, 179 from Myanmar, 177 Vietnamese, 36 Indians, 30 Nepalese, five Taiwanese, two Laotians, one Malaysian, and one Mexican national.
Figures from the Ministry of Interior revealed that during the first nine months of 2025, police conducted 48 operations against cybercrime. These actions resulted in 168 suspects being referred to court and the deportation of 2,722 foreign nationals.
