Jeffrey Epstein denied being “the devil” and insisted he was only the “lowest level” of sexual predator in a newly released two-hour video interview conducted by former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.
The footage, part of a massive 3-million-page file dump by U.S. authorities this week, provides a rare look into the psyche of the deceased financier.
The interview took place at Epstein’s New York mansion. During a tense exchange, Bannon asked point-blank: “Do you think you’re the devil himself?” To which Epstein responded: “No, but I do have a good mirror.”
He appeared to downplay his convictions, specifically opposing Bannon’s label of him as a “class three” predator, which is the most serious classification for threats to public safety in the U.S.
“No, I’m the lowest,” Epstein insisted, though he acknowledged Bannon’s follow-up that he was still a “criminal.”
The documents accompanying the video reveal that Bannon and Epstein maintained regular correspondence.
Epstein reportedly offered to fund Bannon’s efforts to spread conservative ideology across Europe.
In a bid to justify his wealth, Epstein cited his donations toward eradicating polio in Pakistan and India, though he admitted that “ethics is always a complicated subject.”
The latest files shed further light on Epstein’s vast network, including interactions with high-profile figures such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and former Prince Andrew, as well as political heavyweights like Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.
