Johor Pakatan Harapan has started early talks on seat distribution as it prepares for the possibility of a state election.
Internal Discussions Under Way
Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching said the discussions so far involve only the parties within Pakatan Harapan.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of a state election this year. Johor PH has met and is at an early stage of discussing seat distribution,” she told reporters after attending a Next Gen luxury coach handover ceremony here today.
Teo, who also serves as Johor PH deputy chairman and deputy communications minister, explained that the coalition will first settle seat negotiations among its own members.
Only after that will PH look into any opportunities or possibilities for cooperation with other political parties.
Looking Back at Past Results
In the last Johor state election, Pakatan Harapan won 12 of the 56 state seats.
Barisan Nasional took 40 seats, Perikatan Nasional secured three, and Muda won one.
Within the PH allocation, DAP claimed 10 seats, while PKR and Amanah each won one.
