Johor PKR has identified 28 seats it could potentially contest in the upcoming Johor state election.
Selection based on branch strength
Its chairman Zaliha Mustafa said the list was drawn up during the party’s 2026 election workshop.
The list was presented to PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari.
“This target was selected after reviewing the organisational strength of all 26 Johor PKR branches,” she said in a Facebook post today.
“The 28 seats reflect our current position and focus on areas with the strongest competitive potential.”
Open to various scenarios
Zaliha, who is also the Sekijang MP, said the party remains open to different possibilities.
These include three-cornered fights and continued cooperation with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional partners.
She added that PKR’s machinery is concentrating on several key state seats.
Field operations are being coordinated and organisational resources mobilised in a more structured manner.
Coalition preparations underway
Johor PH deputy chairman Teo Nie Ching previously said preliminary talks on seat allocations among PH parties had begun.
The discussions form part of preparations for a possible state election.
The next state polls are due by April 2027.
In the 2022 state election, PKR contested 20 out of 56 seats and won one – Bukit Batu.
