A former MCA vice-president has slammed party president Wee Ka Siong for using his general assembly opening speech to attack DAP instead of charting the party’s future direction.
Ti Lian Ker said Wee wasted a golden chance to reset MCA’s political strategy and inspire confidence among members and voters.
He accused the president of falling back on tired narratives about the Unified Examination Certificate and old grievances instead of facing current realities.
Leadership Vacuum Worries Delegates
Ti pointed out that MCA holds no seats in Sabah and only a thin presence in Peninsular Malaysia, with urban Chinese voters still firmly rejecting the party.
He stressed that the party is losing support not because of misunderstandings, but because it no longer projects relevance or urgency.
Delegates, he added, are anxious about who will succeed Wee when his nine-year term limit ends in 2027.
Succession Question Hangs Over Assembly
Many members want clarity on whether Wee will hand over to deputy president Mah Hang Soon or groom someone else, Ti wrote on Facebook.
They fear another leadership crisis that could further weaken the party, yet the issue remains the elephant in the room.
Earlier today, Wee warned that MCA will review its position in Barisan Nasional if Umno continues cooperating with parties outside the coalition, particularly DAP.
