Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed serious concern regarding the “excessive” welcome accorded by the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to US President Donald Trump upon his arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.
Muhyiddin stated that the “full of merriment, joy, and excessive symbolic” reception raises a big question: is Malaysia now evaluating diplomatic dignity based on the guest’s status, rather than humanitarian principles?
He reiterated his earlier warning in the Parliament that it was inappropriate for Trump to be given a joyous welcome on Malaysian soil while the Palestinian people were being bloodied and starved in Gaza.
Muhyiddin said such a reception suggests that Malaysia appeared “too excited” to celebrate the arrival of a figure who openly colludes with the Zionist Israeli regime in committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s action of dancing with Trump deeply hurt the feelings of all Malaysians who sympathise with the fate of the Palestinians.
He criticised the Prime Minister, who often vehemently condemns the atrocities of Israel and its supporters, noting that this spirit was “suddenly replaced” by wide smiles and a warm welcome towards an individual who supports the Zionist Israeli regime.
Muhyiddin concluded that Trump is a symbol of the arrogance of US foreign policy, which protects the atrocities of the Zionist Israeli regime. Welcoming such a figure with extreme enthusiasm is “utterly embarrassing” for Malaysia.
