Sabah Barisan Nasional will field candidates in fewer than the planned 48 seats for the upcoming state election, state chief Bung Moktar Radin announced.
He withheld the exact number of seats BN intends to contest.
Some seats remain under discussion between Sabah BN and Pakatan Harapan, following their alliance agreement for the polls.
Speaking in Sandakan, Bung said talks have reached the final phase, with nearly 70% wrapped up.
He aims to meet party leaders on November 3 or 4 to seal the deal, Bernama reported.
Delays stem from both sides eyeing the same constituencies.
Yesterday, Sabah PKR staked claims on Gum-Gum and Karamunting seats, currently targeted by BN (Umno) and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah.
Sabah PKR chief Mustapha Sakmud said the party wants to place an “Anwar Ibrahim representative” in these seats to push the “reformasi” agenda tied to the prime minister.
Nominations fall on November 15, with voting on November 29.
