Umno Youth sees no problem working with DAP leaders like Transport Minister Anthony Loke, calling him cooperative.
Port Dickson Umno Youth chief Khairul Jazimin Jamal Abdul Nasir shared this view but stressed it must not harm Malay rights or the Rulers’ institution.
Praise for Loke’s Help
“In Negeri Sembilan, I have no problem with DAP. Even my state Youth chief Mohamad Fadil Md Zin has no problem,” Khairul said during his debate at the Umno Youth General Assembly.
“Loke is quite a good leader, but unfortunately not everyone in DAP is like Anthony Loke. He is okay, he helps.”
Fadil noted Loke assists even on Umno letters, without needing NGO cover.
Loke represents Seremban as MP.
Firm Red Lines
This does not make them DAP lackeys, Khairul stressed.
“We are not lackeys of any party, especially DAP, if you touch the rights of the Malays or the institution of the Rulers. Do not think that because you help us, we will forget all of that,” he said.
Support for Akmal and PAS Ties
Khairul fully backs Umno Youth chief Muhamad Akmal Saleh, often criticised for voicing grassroots concerns.
On renewing Umno-PAS ties, he called for mutual respect over expediency.
“If it is true that Umno-PAS relations are to be rebuilt, let it move forward on the basis of mutual respect, not on the basis of trying to destroy one another,” he said.
“Let that bond be formed out of sincerity and divine purpose, not out of desperation. And if there is still no destiny for it to happen, then let it be.”
The party should then pursue the next agenda, not force lacking commitment.
