The home of activist S. Chandrasegaran, widely known as Cikgu Chandra, has once again become the site of a confrontation. The activist claimed he was threatened by a former politician, who is also a social media influencer, on Wednesday morning.
Chandra, 47, stated that the incident took place at approximately 8.15am when the individual and several others arrived at his residence in Taman Kinrara to issue threats. He described the encounter as lasting about half an hour, noting that the group was aggressive and attempted to provoke him.
The activist told Harian Metro that the situation remained under control because the police were already guarding the residential area. Their presence was intended to prevent any unwanted incidents following previous violence at the same location.
History of violence at the residence
This latest confrontation follows a much more severe attack on Chandra’s property. In a previous incident, men armed with parangs targeted the home and set three of his cars on fire. Despite these life-threatening events and the ongoing intimidation, Chandra has maintained that he has no intention of moving houses.
The repeated targeting of the activist has drawn significant attention from law enforcement. Security remains a priority in the neighbourhood as authorities look into the motives behind the persistent harassment of the 47-year-old.
Police initiate multiple investigations
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar confirmed that two investigation papers have been opened concerning the incidents of mischief and criminal intimidation at the Taman Kinrara residence. These reports cover events that occurred on March 9 and the most recent disturbances.
The first investigation is being conducted under Section 427 and Section 506 of the Penal Code, which pertain to mischief and criminal intimidation respectively. These charges address the aggressive behaviour and threats reported by the activist during the confrontations.
A second investigation paper has been opened under Section 435 of the Penal Code. This specifically addresses mischief by fire in relation to the vehicles that were destroyed at the property. Police are continuing their efforts to identify all parties involved in the series of attacks and threats against Chandra.
