The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is searching for Bersatu Segambut deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad, who is believed to have left the country shortly after settling a RM4.1 million compound.
MACC Confirms Adam Left Malaysia
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed that Adam Radlan is no longer in Malaysia. He departed after the Sessions Court accepted the compound payment on 20 August, effectively discharging him from 12 charges of corruption and money laundering.
“He was previously investigated in connection with the Jana Wibawa projects. Once the court imposed the RM4.1 million compound, he left the country,” Azam told Berita Harian.
Azam declined to reveal Adam’s current whereabouts or confirm whether his international passport has been revoked.
Yesterday, the MACC confirmed it is in talks with the Immigration Department regarding the status of the 44-year-old businessman’s passport, but no further details were disclosed.
Ongoing Probe into MEX 2 Highway Project
MACC officers are now trying to locate Adam to assist in a separate investigation involving the MEX 2 highway extension from the Putrajaya Interchange to KLIA.
From Charges to Compound
On 20 August, the Sessions Court allowed Adam to settle the case by paying the RM4.1 million compound under Section 92(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act, following a representation letter from his lawyers.
The original charges included soliciting and receiving bribes linked to government projects worth RM47.8 million, accepting RM4.1 million to help two companies secure Jana Wibawa contracts, and soliciting an additional RM2 million as inducement between March 2021 and January 2023.
With the compound paid, Adam was fully discharged and acquitted of all 12 charges.
