The Anti-Illegal Places of Worship Movement (GARAH) rally near the Sogo shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur will proceed as scheduled on Saturday night.
GARAH coordinator Zamri Vinoth stated that the assembly will take place at 8:00 PM at the planned location. He maintained that it is a peaceful gathering aimed at upholding the rule of law against illegal encroachment, which he claims is unrelated to any specific race or religion.
“This assembly is conducted in accordance with legal provisions without violating any existing laws. We follow the law! Encroachment crimes must be eradicated, so let’s come out in large numbers at 8:00 PM at the Sogo KL grounds,” he said in a Facebook post.
Earlier, the police issued a warning to the organisers to refrain from making provocations or remarks related to 3R issues (religion, race, and royalty). Dang Wangi District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam confirmed that a meeting with the organisers was held at the district police headquarters on Thursday.
In his latest update on Saturday, Zamri reiterated that the gathering focuses on the sovereignty of the law against encroachment. He urged the public not to associate the movement with irrelevant matters.
Approximately 141 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are expected to join the rally tonight. The main objective of the gathering is to ensure that laws against the illegal encroachment and construction of houses of worship are strictly enforced.
