Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim has appealed to voters in Negeri Sembilan to give the coalition a stronger mandate in the Aug 1 state election to ensure the continuation of the state administration under Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said he hoped the people of Negeri Sembilan would continue placing their trust in PH so that the coalition could maintain a clean, stable and principled administration led by Aminuddin.
“I humbly seek the consideration and trust of the people of Negeri Sembilan to give PH a stronger mandate to ensure the continuity of a clean, stable and principled administration under Aminuddin’s leadership,” he said.
More work remains despite progress
Anwar, who is also the PKR president and prime minister, said various initiatives had been implemented since PH took over the state administration in 2018.
However, he stressed that more efforts were needed to ensure greater prosperity for the people of Negeri Sembilan.
“Various initiatives have been undertaken since 2018. However, much more remains to be done to ensure prosperity for all the people of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
Aminuddin faces three-cornered contest
Aminuddin, who is also the Negeri Sembilan PH chairman, is contesting the Linggi seat in a three-cornered fight against Barisan Nasional’s Faizal Ramli and Bersatu’s Zamri Said.
The seat has traditionally been regarded as an Umno stronghold. Aminuddin previously represented Sikamat for four consecutive terms before moving to contest Linggi.
For the state election, PH is contesting all 36 seats. Barisan Nasional is fielding candidates in 25 seats, while Perikatan Nasional is contesting 11 seats and Bersatu is contesting 24 seats.
