Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has appealed to Johor voters to give Pakatan Harapan (PH) the opportunity to serve the state ahead of Saturday’s Johor state election.
In a Facebook post, Anwar, who is also PH chairman, said the coalition was committed to working hard to safeguard Johor’s interests if entrusted with the mandate to govern.
With only a few days remaining before polling, he urged voters to give PH the opportunity to serve the state, saying the coalition would strive to ensure that development and progress benefit all Johoreans.
Calls on Johoreans to return home to vote
Anwar also called on Johoreans living outside the state to return home and fulfil their responsibility as voters on Saturday.
In a separate social media post a day earlier, he used a traditional pantun to encourage voters to return and cast their ballots for the future of Johor.
The 16th Johor state election will see 172 candidates contesting 56 seats in the state legislative assembly, with polling scheduled for Saturday.
Final campaign tour across Johor
Anwar is also set to return to Johor on Thursday to continue campaigning for PH candidates ahead of polling day.
In another social media post, he invited Johoreans to join the coalition’s campaign activities, saying he hoped to inspire new optimism for the people of Johor.
According to the campaign schedule shared with the post, Anwar will appear at Banang Jaya at 8.05pm, Dewan Orang Asli Rengit at 8.50pm and Padang Awam Taman Pelangi Indah at 10.35pm.
Last weekend, Anwar attended 15 campaign programmes across Johor to strengthen PH’s election campaign while boosting the morale of candidates and party workers.
The Johor election will see PH contest all 56 state seats against its federal coalition partner, Barisan Nasional. Early voting concluded on Tuesday, with polling day set for Saturday.
