A viral image circulating on social media has sparked outrage and disgust after it appeared to show a frog floating in a glass of asam boi (dried plum) drink at a food outlet in the state.
The photograph, shared by the affected customer on social media, depicted a small, dark-colored creature inside the beverage, which had already been partially consumed.
According to the customer, they only realized the presence of the animal after drinking about a quarter of the beverage.
“I had already drunk a quarter of it. When I was about to drink again, I stirred the drink and saw something unusual at the bottom. I stirred it again, and suddenly it floated to the top. Oh God, I immediately started shaking,” the individual wrote in a post.
The post has garnered over 2,300 comments and has been shared more than 38,000 times, with many netizens expressing shock and dissatisfaction over the outlet’s hygiene standards.
One user, identified as @Fakhrul, urged that the matter be reported to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for further investigation.
“Better report to MOH and let them check the kitchen. It’s strange that a frog could end up inside a glass of drink. Something must be very wrong with the cleanliness of the kitchen area,” the user commented.
Another user questioned how the drink could have been served to customers without anyone noticing the frog inside.
“What’s baffling is, how could they not notice the frog before serving it to the customer?” asked user @ehnor in the comments section.
