Australian pasta manufacturer San Remo Macaroni Company Pty Ltd has confirmed that every product currently sold in Malaysia carries valid halal certification.
Certification through recognised body
All San Remo items reach Malaysian shelves via its official distributor GBA Corporation Sdn Bhd and are certified halal by the Islamic Co-ordinating Council of Victoria (ICCV), a foreign body fully recognised by Jakim.
The company’s manufacturing facility in Australia has been audited by ICCV and operates in complete compliance with halal rules.
San Remo added that its plant has always been, and continues to be, entirely pork-free.

On Jan 31, Jakim stated that the La Pasta Carbonara Flavour Pasta and Sauce does not carry a halal certificate issued by the department.
San Remo responded that this specific product is not marketed, sold or distributed in Malaysia through any official channel.
Long-term halal commitment
With more than 90 years of food manufacturing experience, San Remo said it remains fully committed to maintaining halal integrity at every stage.
The company encouraged Malaysian consumers to look for the official Jakim halal logo when purchasing its products.
