Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Azam Baki today proposed that anyone convicted of corruption should be declared bankrupt.
He argued this would prevent them from enjoying wealth obtained through illegal means. The call came during the International Anti-Corruption Day event in Putrajaya.
Tougher Stance on High-Profile Cases
Azam announced that MACC will step up aggressive investigations into major and high-profile corruption cases next year.
The focus is to ensure those with power, influence, or money cannot escape justice. Enhanced asset recovery efforts will run throughout 2026 to plug leakages.
Returning Every Sen to the People
He stressed MACC’s commitment to recovering every sen of misappropriated national assets for the rakyat.
Officers will receive advanced training in modern investigative techniques. Stronger cooperation with local and international agencies will also help trace stolen funds across borders.
