Bersatu has taken decisive disciplinary measures against two of its Members of Parliament and four division chiefs, citing violations of the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan has been sacked from the party, while Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has been suspended.
Additionally, the party expelled four division chiefs: Azrudin Idris from Hang Tuah Jaya, Faizal Asmar from Pengerang, Fadhli Ismail from Ipoh Timur, and Isa Saidi from Ampang.
These actions stem from allegations that the individuals were involved in a “statutory declaration movement” intended to oust Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, as well as their purported roles in a recent disturbance at an official event.
The Bersatu disciplinary board, which convened last night, issued a statement explaining that it had received written complaints from party members against Wan Saiful, Wan Fayhsal, and the four division chiefs. Following an investigation, the board summoned the respondents for a hearing on October 8 before imposing the penalties.
“The board’s decision was grounded in thorough investigations and careful deliberation,” the statement read. “It was made independently, without any outside influence, and in a fair and unbiased manner.”
The board urged all Bersatu members to adhere strictly to the party’s constitution and its code of ethics and conduct to preserve the organisation’s reputation.
Those affected have 14 days to appeal the decision.
