Several Bersatu division chiefs in Perak, along with an MP linked to deputy president Hamzah Zainudin, have been called before the party’s disciplinary board.
The action stems from a press conference held last month amid growing internal strains.
Larut Bersatu chief Hassuandi Hamzah confirmed he received his summons letter today.
“A lot of us received a letter from the disciplinary board. I am among them,” he told FMT.
Affected Divisions and MP
Teluk Intan Bersatu chief Kamaruddin Majid also received a notice.
He said division chiefs from Padang Rengas, Gopeng, Tapah, Larut, Pasir Salak, and Gerik MP were similarly summoned.
Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob confirmed he will attend proceedings on Wednesday.
“Ideally, the president should look for other ways to resolve the matter. However, if he chooses the path of taking disciplinary action, everyone is prepared,” he said.
Background to the Dispute
The group was summoned over statements made last month calling for Muhyiddin Yassin to step down as Bersatu president.
Fourteen of Bersatu’s 24 divisions in Perak had reportedly urged him to relinquish his post, citing his handling of the party’s internal crisis.
They argued the prolonged dispute had harmed the image of both Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional.
The disciplinary notice states their actions affected support for the party and coalition, tarnished Muhyiddin’s image, and caused internal division.
Tensions have escalated since September’s annual general assembly, triggered by an anonymous letter alleging a plot against Muhyiddin and subsequent sackings of several leaders, including Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah.
