Barisan Nasional has revealed four additional candidates for the Sabah state election, setting up a direct contest with PKR in one seat despite their electoral agreement.
Sabah BN chairman Bung Moktar Radin said in a statement that the decision followed negotiations with allies and recent developments.
BN will field Chin Kim Hiung in Karamunting, where PKR’s George Hiew is also running.
Hiew, a two-term assemblyman, left Warisan for Gagasan Rakyat in 2023. He was previously with DAP before joining Warisan in 2016.
He was part of the 10 candidates unveiled by PKR on Sunday.
BN has also slated Willey Lampaki for Bandau, Rahmah Jan Sulaiman for Kemabong, and Chaya Sulaiman for Kukusan.
Chaya ran in Kukusan during the 2020 state election but fell short to Warisan’s Rina Jainal by a mere 10 votes.
