Negotiations over cooperation and seat allocations between Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the upcoming Sabah state election are reported to be nearing completion.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the seat distribution among the three coalitions — representing both federal and state government partners — is expected to be finalised either before or upon the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (Dewan Undangan Negeri, DUN).
“The BN–PH stage is nearly complete, and I have been told the talks with GRS will also be finished. As for when it will be confirmed, wait for the DUN to be dissolved,” he said.
He made the remarks after attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the PKPS ‘EHSAN Dairy Farm’ complex at Ladang Sungai Tengi on Sunday.
Media reports in June indicated that cooperation talks between BN and PH had already entered their final phase.
UMNO secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki added that the discussions involve all component parties within the coalition, as well as strategic partners in Sabah.
