Cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) could continue beyond the Melaka state election and extend to the next general election, says PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Hadi said both coalitions were committed to resolving their differences, coordinating their election machinery and securing victories in future polls.
“God willing, it (the cooperation) will continue. We expect things to be better after gaining experience in Johor, Negeri Sembilan, and now, for the third time, in Melaka.
“God willing, this will extend to the federal level and beyond,” he told reporters after arriving to support the PN candidate during nominations for the Bukit Katil seat at Dewan Tun Ali this morning.
Asked whether the cooperation would also involve PAS-led states such as Kelantan and Terengganu, Hadi indicated that it would.
“God willing, there will be cooperation,” he said.
BN contests 23 seats under Melaka arrangement
Under the seat allocation arrangement for the Melaka election, BN is contesting 23 of the state’s 28 seats, while PAS and its strategic partners are contesting the remaining five.
In the 2021 Melaka state election, BN won 21 seats, Pakatan Harapan secured five, while PN took two.
