Barisan Nasional (BN) has activated its election machinery across all 73 Sabah State Legislative Assembly constituencies in preparation for the upcoming 17th State Election.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the coalition is evaluating constituencies where it has strong winning potential.
“We have mobilized our election machinery across all 73 state constituencies in Sabah and are identifying areas to prioritize,” he told reporters after attending the monthly gathering of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development here on Monday.
Regarding negotiations with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the state polls, Ahmad Zahid said discussions remain unresolved.
“We have strengthened and finalized negotiations with Pakatan Harapan (PH) but not with GRS.
“We respect the cooperation between PH and GRS… what’s important is victory. So, we will focus more on the seats we can win—that’s our target,” he said.
The 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly will automatically dissolve on November 11 if not dissolved earlier, setting the stage for the 17th state polls.
Previously, Unity Government Secretariat chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail issued a joint statement confirming that PH and BN have agreed to cooperate in the next Sabah state election.
