The government has announced a 50% discount on toll fees to mark the Christmas celebrations.
Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that the discount will apply on December 23 and 24.
Cost to Government
This initiative will require the government to compensate highway concessionaires approximately RM20.65 million.
The discount is limited to Class 1 private vehicles and excludes tolls at national borders.
It will also cover Class 2 vehicles using the Penang bridge toll plazas.
Easing Travel Burden
Nanta explained that the measure aims to ease travel costs for Malaysians returning to their hometowns.
Many plan to reunite with family for Christmas or enjoy the school holidays together.
He added that the discount aligns with the Madani government’s goal of lowering living costs.
This support extends to people of all faiths, ethnicities, and beliefs across the country.
