Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Hajiji Noor has announced that Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Anifah Aman will contest the Bongawan seat in the November 29 Sabah state election.
Anifah first signalled his intent to run in the constituency back in May, setting up a direct challenge against the incumbent, Warisan’s Daud Yusof.
Hajiji expressed strong confidence that Bongawan would return to a government-aligned party to drive local progress.
“If GRS, its component parties and machinery remain stable, united with the people’s support, I am confident GRS will take Bongawan,” he said during an event in Bongawan today.
Past Results and Seat History
In the 16th Sabah election, PCS candidates failed to win any of the 73 seats they contested, including Anifah’s loss in Bongawan.
Prior to Daud, the seat was held by Mohamad Alamin from Umno, who now serves as deputy foreign minister.
As the campaign heats up, Bongawan’s voters face a familiar face in Anifah, backed by GRS unity and a promise of steady development.
