DAP deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh has dismissed the electoral cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the Negeri Sembilan state election, predicting that the alliance will eventually collapse.
Yeoh said Pakatan Harapan (PH) supporters should not be concerned about the BN-PN pact, expressing confidence that the cooperation would not last.
‘Alliance built on disloyalty’
The federal minister said the cooperation was overshadowed by treachery and those she described as being disloyal to political friendships.
She likened the alliance to the ship featured in the film Titanic, saying it could sink at any time.
“They celebrated when it was first launched, but it eventually sank after hitting a massive iceberg that they failed to notice,” she said in a Facebook post.
Yeoh also claimed that both BN and PN were driven by ambitions to produce the next prime minister, adding that each side would undermine the other rather than help its partner succeed.
BN and PN divide seats for state election
Under the agreement for the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan election, BN will contest 25 seats, while PN will field candidates in the remaining 11 constituencies.
PH, which continues to cooperate with BN at the federal level, is contesting all 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan Legislative Assembly.
