The government will increase the monthly subsidised RON95 quota under the BUDI95 programme from 200 litres to 300 litres, effective Sept 1.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the increase in conjunction with Merdeka Eve, saying it would benefit more than 16 million users.
The government will also raise the monthly subsidised diesel quota under the BUDI Diesel programme from 300 litres to 400 litres.
The increase is expected to benefit more than 500,000 eligible owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks and four-wheel-drive vehicles.
The government had reduced the monthly BUDI95 quota from 300 litres to 200 litres effective April 1 as a temporary measure amid higher global crude prices and supply chain disruptions linked to the conflict in West Asia.
Anwar had said the adjustment was intended to reduce the government’s fiscal burden.
School maintenance allocation to rise 50%
The government has also agreed to increase the allocation for maintaining all types of schools by 50% next year, from RM1 billion to RM1.5 billion.
The allocation will cover national schools, Chinese and Tamil national-type schools, religious schools, tahfiz and pondok schools, as well as special education institutions.
Anwar said the Education Ministry had been instructed to review applications for infrastructure repairs in every district to ensure maintenance work could begin as early as January.
AI and digital healthcare initiatives expanded
Anwar also announced that the AI for the People programme would be opened to Malaysians aged 18 to 30.
He said 100,000 youths who complete the required modules would receive free three-month subscriptions to leading AI applications.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will provide RM1 billion to strengthen digital capabilities in the public healthcare sector.
The allocation will support the implementation of electronic medical records and internet connectivity at 150 hospitals and more than 2,000 public health clinics.
The government will also raise the annual sales threshold for e-Invoice exemption from RM1 million to RM3 million.
Anwar said businesses with annual sales of RM3 million or less would therefore not be required to implement e-Invoicing.
The government will also increase microfinancing facilities by RM1 billion, bringing total funding for 2026 to RM6 billion, compared with RM5 billion previously.
Anwar said a RM200 million grant would also be introduced to assist hawkers, small traders, night market traders and mothers running businesses from home.
All the measures will take effect on Sept 1.
