A Chinese national was arrested yesterday evening after allegedly assaulting an immigration officer during a departure inspection at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1. The officer sustained injuries during the altercation.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. when the woman, who was traveling with a man and two children, approached the immigration counter. According to the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), the officer on duty discovered that the family had no record of entry into Malaysia and referred the matter to a supervisor for further verification.
The AKPS stated that the suspect became agitated and verbally abusive when she was told to step aside and let other passengers proceed. A brief scuffle ensued, during which the woman allegedly grabbed the officer’s headscarf and forcefully pushed her head against a pillar. Despite instructions to calm down, the suspect continued to be aggressive, prompting AKPS enforcement officers to call in the Aviation Security (AVSEC) team to de-escalate the situation.
The injured officer suffered swelling around her left eye, a headache on the right side of her head, and body aches. She was taken to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment.
A police report has been filed, and the suspect is currently in police custody. She is being investigated under several sections of the Penal Code: Section 186 for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their public functions, Section 332 for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant, and Section 353 for using criminal force to deter a public servant from performing their duty.
