DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has sparked speculation after posting a cryptic Malay proverb on Facebook shortly after former two-term MP Ong Kian Ming announced his resignation from the party.
Loke posted “Habis madu, sepah dibuang”, a proverb commonly used to describe a situation where someone is cast aside after being used by another person.
The post quickly drew responses from netizens, with many questioning whether it was directed at Ong.
Ong announced his resignation from DAP today after about 14 years with the party.
Ong says he will not join another party
Ong said he does not intend to join another political party or contest in the next general election.
However, he said he would help former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin campaign in the 16th general election.
Ong served as the Serdang MP from 2013 to 2018 before becoming the Bangi MP from 2018 to 2022.
He also served as deputy international trade and industry minister from 2018 to 2020.
Ong’s journey in DAP leadership
Ong was previously a member of the DAP central executive committee but failed to retain his position in the party’s top leadership during the 2022 party elections.
He did not seek re-election to the DAP leadership in the party election held in 2025.
His departure now comes after about 14 years as a member of the party, prompting renewed attention to Loke’s cryptic Facebook post and the proverb he chose to share.
