A grandson of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad suffered losses estimated at RM1.8 million after his residence in Bukit Ledang, Kuala Lumpur, was broken into two days ago.
Sources said the incident came to light at about 3 pm when the victim’s domestic helper called to inform him that the back gate had been cut open and his bedroom had been entered.
“The victim then checked and found signs of forced entry into his room. Upon further inspection, he discovered several personal belongings were missing,” the source said.
According to Harian Metro report, acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohamed Usuf Jan confirmed the incident. He said initial investigations showed that jewellery from the victim’s room had been stolen, with losses estimated at RM1.8 million.
“The suspects have not been identified. Investigations are ongoing, including reviewing CCTV footage from the residence,” he added.
