Starting today (July 17), Malaysian citizens will enjoy visa-free entry to China for short-term visits, with a cumulative stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
According to a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, under the China-Malaysia Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption, passport holders of both countries may enter, exit, or transit through each other’s territory without a visa, with each visit limited to 30 days.
The visa-free entry covers tourism, family visits, business, cultural exchanges, private affairs, medical treatment, and travel as crew members.
However, the cumulative stay must not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.
The embassy advised that those intending to stay for more than 30 days, or to work, study, engage in media activities, or undertake any activity requiring prior approval, must apply for the appropriate visa before entry.
The agreement was reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Kuala Lumpur in April.
