A Malaysian woman and her two young children have found themselves stranded by severe flooding in Hatyai, Thailand, urgently requesting assistance from both the Malaysian embassy and the public. Lily Suraini, currently staying at the Siam Oriental Hotel in Hatyai, made her appeal through a Facebook post, seeking essential supplies including milk and disposable nappies for her children aged two and four.
Critical Situation with Dwindling Resources
The family’s situation has become increasingly dire as basic services have been disrupted. Lily reported that electricity has been completely cut off at their location, and her phone battery is running dangerously low. This communication lifeline may soon be lost, further isolating them from potential help.
She emphasized that food supplies at nearby convenience stores have been exhausted, leaving them without access to basic necessities. “We need food and water to survive,” she stated in her appeal, highlighting the urgency of their circumstances.
Rising Waters Trap Hotel Guests
The flooding has created dangerous conditions throughout the area. “If anyone can help, we are trapped here. The water level is rising,” Lily added, describing the worsening situation. The family remains confined to their hotel as floodwaters continue to advance.
Her appeal also noted that many other guests at the hotel face similar difficulties, including several families with infants who require immediate assistance. The situation is further complicated by the failure of essential building services. “The electricity is out, and the lift is no longer working,” she confirmed, indicating the challenging conditions within the hotel itself.
