The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 14 as polling day for the 16th Melaka state election, with nomination day scheduled for Oct 31.
EC chairman Ramlan Harun said early voting would take place on Nov 10.
He said the campaign period would last 14 days, beginning after the declaration of candidates and ending at 11.59pm on Nov 13. The EC confirmed the election timetable following its special meeting today.
Melaka election dates announced
The Melaka Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Sept 23 following the announcement by Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh on Sept 22.
The EC has since set Oct 31 for nomination, Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling.
2021 election results
In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 state seats, while Pakatan Harapan secured five and Perikatan Nasional won two, according to the EC’s official results.
