Pahang Barisan Nasional hopes its unity government partnership with Pakatan Harapan will continue until the 16th general election, state BN chairman Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said.
Wan Rosdy, who is also the menteri besar, said the state leadership would continue to focus on carrying out its responsibilities and safeguarding the people’s well-being.
He added that Pahang BN was also open to discussing cooperation with any political party ahead of GE16.
Hopes for continued unity government
‘We will discuss it, in terms of cooperating with other parties. I hope we, the unity government, can remain together until GE16,’ he was quoted as saying after officiating an event at Wisma Sri Pahang in Kuantan today.
Wan Rosdy, who is also the Pahang Umno chief, had previously said Umno was open to cooperating with any political party, including PAS, in the state if such cooperation benefited the people.
Hung assembly after GE15
The Pahang state assembly was left hung after the 15th general election, when BN and Perikatan Nasional each won 17 seats while PH secured eight.
With no coalition able to form the state government on its own, BN subsequently formed a partnership with PH.
BN-PH formed state government
The cooperation allowed BN and PH to form the Pahang state government, with Wan Rosdy reappointed as menteri besar for a second term.
As Pahang BN looks ahead to GE16, Wan Rosdy said the coalition remains open to discussing cooperation with other political parties while hoping its current unity government partnership with PH will continue.
