PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has demanded Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim make an immediate public explanation over the leaked Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting minutes circulating on social media, warning it threatens the integrity of the judiciary and the supremacy of the Federal Constitution.
Ahmad Fadhli claimed the leaked document alleged that the prime minister bypassed constitutional procedures and the JAC Act 2009, directly submitting names for the High Court Chief Judge to the King without JAC deliberation, and that a former attorney general co-signed an unauthorized joint recommendation.
“There are also disturbing claims of pressure exerted on the Chief Justice to influence judgments and reassign dissenting judges,” he said, describing this as clear evidence of political interference in the judiciary.
Ahmad Fadhli warned that if these allegations are proven, Anwar should step down immediately, as his position would no longer align with principles of integrity, trust, and constitutional governance.
He urged Malaysians of all backgrounds to stand up peacefully to defend judicial independence and restore confidence in the system.
Police have confirmed an investigation into the leak, with Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid stating that the case is being probed under the Official Secrets Act 1972, Section 203A of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
