Federal Territories PAS will establish 11 task forces comprising professionals, technocrats and activists to formulate policies ahead of the 16th general election (GE16).
Federal Territories PAS commissioner Azhar Yahya said the groups are part of the Islamic party’s preparations to govern the federal territories and oversee the Federal Territories Ministry, Berita Harian reported.
He said PAS might previously have been perceived as a party made up mainly of religious scholars, but it has many professionals capable of contributing to the development of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
“We want to highlight that PAS has many professionals with expertise in their respective fields,” he said.
Focus on structured and people-oriented policies
Azhar said the task forces reflected the party’s commitment to developing a more structured, realistic and people-oriented agenda.
He was speaking at the Federal Territories PAS convention in Kuala Lumpur today.
The state chapter also adopted 12 resolutions for residents of the federal territories, covering issues including affordable housing, public transport and the cost of living.
Manifesto to be based on research
Azhar said Federal Territories PAS would unveil its GE16 manifesto based on research conducted by professionals under the state chapter’s research institute.
He said the research would form the basis of the party’s policy preparations as it gets ready for the general election.
