PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden attended the Umno Youth general assembly today, reciprocating Umno Youth chief Akmal Saleh’s visit to the PAS Youth muktamar last week.
Afnan was seen wearing a white baju Melayu with a green sampin bearing the PAS logo.
The Alor Setar MP said yesterday that PAS Youth would attend the Umno Youth assembly in response to the invitation extended by the wing, whose representatives had attended the PAS muktamar.
“That day we invited them to the muktamar, they came. This time, they invited us to PAU, we’re going. For the sake of unity, we’re attending,” he said in a Facebook post.
Reciprocal visits between youth wings
When Akmal attended the PAS Youth muktamar on Sept 3 with about 25 Umno Youth delegates, Afnan acknowledged the delegation’s presence in his speech.
Afnan said unity among Muslims should not remain a slogan or empty talk, but should be translated into sincere action.
The reciprocal visits between the two parties’ youth wings come amid renewed scrutiny of ties between PAS and Umno.
