Chief Secretary to the Government, Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, hinted that an upcoming announcement teased by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim could bring joy to Malaysians — especially civil servants.
“It’s a surprise, but it will make people happy. If it’s for civil servants, it will definitely make them happy too, God willing,” he said when asked about a mysterious poster shared by Anwar on Facebook referring to an “extraordinary appreciation for Malaysians.”
The same poster was also posted on the official social media page of the Public Service Department (JPA), sparking speculation online.
Pressed for details, Shamsul Azri declined to elaborate, saying, “I’m not a magician. Just wait — it’s a full surprise, and it’s under tight wraps.”
He was speaking to reporters after officiating the 3rd International Action Research Conference (AHIBS-ACT) 2025 organized by Azman Hashim International Business School at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
Also present were UTM Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) Prof Dr Intan Zaurah Mat Darus and AHIBS-ACT Chairperson Associate Prof Dr Haliyana Khalid.
Shamsul Azri also declined to confirm a specific date for the announcement, urging the public to allow the government to make the disclosure at an appropriate time.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar posted a short teaser on Facebook, suggesting that a significant announcement would soon be made as a “gift” to the people. The message was accompanied by the tagline “Bersama Malaysiaku” (Together with My Malaysia), adding to public anticipation.
The post lacked further details, but many social media users speculated that a surprise may be in store for Malaysians.
On the same day, Anwar held a closed-door meeting with Pakatan Harapan leaders to discuss party preparations for the upcoming parliamentary session, following a similar engagement with Barisan Nasional MPs last Friday.
