Selangor police chief CP Shazeli bin Dato’ Kahar confirmed that on Aug 13, 2025, a boy was attacked by an unknown man with an unidentified device at the entrance of Symphony 2, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, in front of K-Fry. The suspect remains at large, and police are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
“Initial findings revealed the victim is the son of Pandan MP and former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli. The incident occurred when the boy was approached and pricked by the suspect with what appeared to be a needle-like object. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” Shezeli said in the press conference today.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, Section 324 of the Penal Code, and Section 352 of the Penal Code. Convictions could result in up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping (for sexual offences), up to 10 years’ imprisonment or fine or whipping (Section 324), and up to three months’ imprisonment or fine (Section 352).
Selangor police, with assistance from Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department, are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry, including identifying the suspect’s motive, confirming the object used, and probing any potential wider conspiracy.

Police also advised against spreading unverified speculation that could cause unnecessary public anxiety or provoke unwanted incidents.
