A 52-year-old man from Selangor hit the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on May 6, walking away with RM14.8 million of the total RM16.8 million jackpot prize.
The winner, a property manager, secured the windfall by betting on numbers derived from his old car registration plates.
The winning pair of numbers, 9186 and 4828, held deep sentimental value for him. He explained that these numbers reminded him of the vehicles he once owned and the many memories associated with them.
The winner shared that he had been consistently betting on this specific combination for over a decade. He admitted that while he remained hopeful, he never truly expected both numbers to appear in the same draw.
Realizing the dream
Before his big win, the property manager frequently read news reports about various Toto Jackpot winners. He confessed that he often harboured doubts about whether such stories were genuine or merely marketing tales.
However, his perspective shifted instantly upon his own success. He noted that having personally experienced the win, he can now confirm that these stories are indeed authentic.
The man placed a modest total bet of RM6, which resulted in a payout of RM14,818,901.35. In addition to the main prize, he also received a bonus of RM336 when he collected his winnings at the STM Lottery head office.
Plans for the future
Regarding his plans for the windfall, the winner expressed an interest in purchasing a luxury vehicle and investing in various properties.
Despite these desires, he emphasized that he intends to manage the prize money prudently to ensure his long-term financial security.
While the Selangor resident took the lion’s share of the prize, he was not the only winner that day. Another individual from Kuala Lumpur won the remaining portion of the jackpot, totaling RM1,975,853.50.
