Selangor has declared Oct 25 a public holiday in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the reign of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
State Secretary Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said that as Oct 25 falls on a Sunday, Monday, Oct 26, 2026, will be observed as a replacement public holiday.
“A total of 20 official programmes and events are scheduled to take place from Sept 28 to Nov 1, 2026, as a sign of loyalty, respect and gratitude from the entire administration and people under Sultan Sharafuddin’s reign,” he told a press conference.
Fadzli said all the programmes had been presented to Sultan Sharafuddin and would cover social and religious matters, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development and sports.
He said the celebrations would be held in moderation, in line with the Sultan’s decree for prudence.
Three main ceremonies planned
The celebrations will feature three main ceremonies.
“These are a Guard of Honour Inspection with a 21-gun salute, the Proclamation of Titles and Oath-Taking Ceremony, and the presentation of Selangor State Awards,” Fadzli said.
Other key events will include community programmes such as visits to orphanages, the official opening of the Autism Friendly Park, the Kita Run and a Royal Tea Party.
Religious activities will include a Yasin recital and prayer session, as well as the Multaqa and Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam.
Heritage and sports events
Heritage and historical documentation programmes will include the launch of special envelopes and stamps, a commemorative coin and a book titled “Menjulang Takhta”.
Sports events will include the opening of the Selangor Polo and Equestrian Club, the Sultan of Selangor Silver Jubilee Cup Polo Tournament and an Under-15 Football League match.
