Singapore stocks remain the core of retail portfolios, according to Moomoo Singapore’s 2H2025 Retail Investor Sentiment Survey, with more than 70% of local investors intending to maintain or increase their exposure to domestic equities in the coming months.
Conducted in April 2025, the survey covered nearly 1,500 respondents — from new investors to those with over a decade of experience and portfolios exceeding S$1 million — offering a comprehensive look at strategy shifts amid global macroeconomic uncertainty, inflation, and geopolitical risk.
Gavin Chia, CEO of Moomoo Singapore, said: “These findings affirm that the Singapore stock market remains a pillar of stability for local investors, reflecting enduring confidence in the country’s macroeconomic fundamentals and policy landscape.”
He added that this trend is reflected in sustained high trading volume on the Moomoo platform.
Conservative vs Risk-Taking Strategies
A strong home bias is most prominent among conservative investors, who prioritize capital preservation and stable returns. “In times of global turbulence, Singapore’s market serves as a defensive anchor,” said Chia.
In contrast, risk-seeking investors are shifting exposure to perceived undervalued markets like Hong Kong. The survey notes that 4 in 10 investors are rotating into regions with higher short-term upside potential.
While sentiment on Singapore remains steady, broader outlook on global markets is cautious — only 30% of respondents expressed optimism for H2 2025, with many anticipating persistent volatility.
AI Use Soars Among High-Net-Worth Investors
The survey also reveals a surge in AI adoption among affluent investors. Over 70% of those with portfolios above S$200,000 now use AI for tasks like market scanning, rebalancing, and risk alerts. Among those with portfolios over S$1 million, 50% trust AI-generated recommendations — double the rate of lower-tier investors.
Wealthy investors are also more frequent and decisive users of automation tools for execution and decision-making, while conservative investors primarily use AI for summaries, news, and alerts.
“Retail investors are adapting fast, leveraging tech to proactively manage portfolios,” Chia concluded. “At Moomoo, we aim to support that shift with insights, education, and innovation.”
