Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched a direct recruitment drive for Malaysian doctors and GPs, holding interviews at Traders Hotel KLCC, sparking widespread reactions among the local medical community and netizens.
The recruitment offers an attractive starting salary of SGD110,000 (about RM385,000) per year, excluding monthly housing allowance, insurance, and additional benefits. Many consider it a golden opportunity to save significantly within just two years.
Doctor @dr_amandaelli highlighted the offer on Threads, calling it an excellent chance for doctors to build savings before eventually returning home.
The move drew strong online reactions. X user @KahirulAqmal remarked, “There you have it! They’re coming directly to KL just to recruit our doctors.” Another, @HKontrak, sarcastically posted: “Good luck @KKMPutrajaya @DrDzul.” Supporting this, @realshahr added, “If you convert the salary, even nurses could be earning up to RM10,000 per month.”
User @SaifulA77188378 added, “They’ve been doing this for a while. Maybe our Health Ministry just pretends not to see. Anyway, congratulations to those who got jobs in Singapore. Golden rain in a foreign country is still better than a storm of stones at home.”
The situation has once again reignited concerns over Malaysia’s medical brain drain, with many questioning if the government is doing enough to retain local healthcare professionals.
