The Malaysian government will begin disbursing Phase 3 of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) from tomorrow (Aug 11), allocating RM2 billion to help ease the cost of living for low-income households under the MADANI administration.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in a statement that 8.6 million recipients will receive up to RM650 each under this phase, an increase of 300,000 recipients compared to 8.3 million in Phase 1 this January.
Anwar attributed the rise in numbers to the government’s decision to keep STR applications and appeals open year-round to ensure all eligible individuals receive assistance.
“Opening applications and appeals throughout the year shows the MADANI government’s commitment to ensuring no one is left behind.
STR is more than just cash assistance — it empowers recipients towards financial independence and achieving the equity envisioned in the MADANI Economy.”
According to the Ministry of Finance, payments will be credited directly into bank accounts or distributed in cash via Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) in stages, depending on eligibility category.
Applicants not listed in the STR database will need to submit a new application for verification. Status checks can be made via the official STR portal at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
