US President Donald Trump released a video message on Truth Social expressing “grief and anger” over the assassination of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.
“Charlie inspired millions, and tonight all who knew and loved him are united in shock and sorrow. Charlie was a patriot who dedicated his life to open debate and to the country he loved so dearly, the United States of America,” Trump said.
He described Kirk as “a model for truth and freedom,” adding that “there has never been anyone so respected by the youth.”
Trump also highlighted Kirk’s strong faith, saying: “We take comfort knowing that he is now at peace with God in heaven.” He added that he prayed for God to watch over Kirk’s wife and children “in this terrible hour of heartache and pain.”
“This is a dark moment for America,” Trump concluded.
