A mysterious bulge visible on President Donald Trump’s backside has sparked fresh speculation about his health.
The unusual bump was spotted in a video posted on X by outgoing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, showing Trump at a rally on Long Island on Friday.
In the footage, Trump walks down from the stage towards the crowd, with the back of his suit visibly protruding as if something rigid had been placed underneath.
The box-like shape appeared to remain in the same position as Trump walked towards the crowd and later returned to the podium.
The unusual sight quickly prompted speculation on social media over what might have been concealed beneath his suit.
Social media users offer theories and jokes
Independent journalist Aaron Rupar was among those who commented on the footage, writing on X: ‘Seriously, what is going on with Trump’s rear end here? It looks like he has some sort of contraption back there.’
Former conservative lawyer and Trump critic George Conway also responded with a joke that appeared to reference the Depend brand of adult diapers.
Czech-American tennis legend Martina Navratilova suggested that the bulge could be a large diaper.
Trump, the oldest person ever inaugurated as president, has long faced speculation that he wears adult diapers. However, his biographer said on the Inside Trump’s Head podcast last week that there was no basis to support the claim.
Others offered different theories. One X user suggested Trump was no longer hiding a colostomy bag, while another jokingly asked whether he had undergone a Brazilian butt lift.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Health scrutiny continues during second term
Speculation about whether Trump may be concealing a medical device beneath his suit has emerged as scrutiny over his health has intensified during his second term.
Recent public attention has focused on issues including bruising on his hand, swollen ankles, and occasions when he appeared to fall asleep during public events.
Trump has also appeared publicly with a neck rash and has repeatedly spoken about ‘acing’ a dementia screening test that he said measures intelligence. He has also drawn attention for going off topic during interviews and speeches.
During his Long Island speech on Friday, Trump appeared to experience another apparent memory lapse when he spoke about Saritha Komatireddy, whom he had endorsed to run for New York attorney general.
‘You have a person running, who I just met today for the first time, and I’ve endorsed her running for attorney general,’ Trump said.
Without naming the candidate he said he had just met, Trump called out from the podium: ‘Where the hell are you… Ma’am? Where are you?’
