UMNO Women’s Wing has expressed deep regret and strong criticism over Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR) acceptance of former UMNO Supreme Council member and Kota Raja division chief Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz into its Ampang division.
UMNO Women’s Wing information chief Rosni Zahari said UMNO’s official stance, as stated by the party’s secretary-general on May 30, 2025, was that unilaterally accepting members from coalition partners within the Unity Government is inappropriate and risks undermining harmony and unity among component parties.
“UMNO Women fully supports the president’s earlier position that any Unity Government party accepting Tengku Zafrul’s membership is unethical.
“Unity and loyalty among component parties must be upheld to ensure the stability of the Unity Government. Such actions not only create suspicion and prejudice among grassroots members but also damage the sincerity and credibility of the cooperation built over time,” she said in a statement.
Rosni, who is also Pahang UMNO Women’s deputy chief, stressed that cooperation among coalition parties must be based on mutual understanding and respect to prevent political tensions.
“UMNO Women urges all Unity Government parties, especially PKR, to respect the spirit of loyalty and political ethics to safeguard the coalition’s stability and integrity,” she added.
Tengku Zafrul had earlier resigned as an UMNO Supreme Council member, Kota Raja division chief, and party member before officially joining PKR.
